See how your Instagram and social posts perform on Google, with Search Console

SUMMARY

Google now lets creators connect Instagram, TikTok, X or YouTube to Search Console and see which Google searches lead to their posts, even without a website. It reports performance. It does not prove that every post is indexed.

Creators have long wondered: “Does Google show my Instagram posts, and can I see it?” Search Console now gives a partial answer.

What is new

Google added a Search Console property type for social and video platforms. According to Search Engine Journal, a creator can connect Instagram, TikTok, X or YouTube, and the reports work even for accounts without their own website. Google later opened this reporting to everyone.

From the connected account you can see which Google searches lead people to your posts, across Search, Discover and Google News.

What this does not tell you

  • It reports performance, not whether every post is indexed.
  • One SEO guide claims Google and Bing began indexing Instagram posts in July 2025. We could not find a primary statement from Google or Microsoft confirming that, so treat it as unconfirmed. (We covered the Instagram change that was announced in July in this earlier article.)

Other places Instagram already showed up

  • Google has shown Instagram posts in its Perspectives carousel since 2023.
  • Google Discover also surfaces posts from creators, which is a separate path from normal search.

Inside Instagram

Instagram’s own search leans on captions and keywords, matching them to usernames, bios, captions, hashtags and places. Instagram also now lets users tell the algorithm what they want to see, according to Search Engine Land.

What to do

  1. Connect your account in Search Console and note the queries that bring people in.
  2. Write captions in the words people actually search for, not only hashtags.
  3. Add alt text to images. It may help visibility, and it helps accessibility.
  4. Use the query data to decide your next posts. If people find you for a question, answer it again in a Reel.
