Google’s Game-Changer AI Mode Is Live in India – What It Is, How to Enable, and How to Use

Google’s much-awaited AI Mode in Search is now live in India – currently available in beta (experimental) mode. If you have noticed a new interface showing AI-generated summaries above the usual search results, you’re already using Google’s AI Mode.

This blog explains how to enable it, how to use it, and what each part of the interface means.

What is AI Mode in Google Search

AI Mode is part of Google’s Search Generative Experience (SGE) – a new way to explore the web using AI-generated answers. It aims to:

  • Summarize complex or trending queries
  • Highlight key news actions and perspectives
  • Link to credible sources
  • Offer quicker insights than traditional blue links

This feature is especially useful for breaking news, comparisons, or research-based questions.

How to Enable Google Search AI Mode in India

To activate AI Mode:

  1. Go to this link: https://labs.google.com/search/experiment/22
  2. Log in using your Google Account if not already signed in
  3. Click on “Try it out” or “Enable” to join the experiment
  4. Once enabled, your searches will automatically show AI Mode results for eligible queries

Note – It may take a few minutes for the feature to reflect.

How to Use AI Mode in Google Search

After enabling, here’s how AI Mode works:

AI Mode Tab

This appears on top of the search result filters – before “All”, “News”, or “Videos”. Click “AI Mode” to see a generative summary.

AI-Generated Summary

Appears at the top of your search result. This includes:

  • A short paragraph summarizing the topic
  • Bullet points with the latest updates, especially for news-based queries
  • Embedded sources used for the summary

Example – Searching “iran usa war news” will show:

  • Recent actions by the US
  • Iran’s retaliation
  • Ceasefire announcements and tensions
  • A summary paragraph clearly stating there’s no official war but high military activity

Source Cards (Right Side)

Google shows articles from verified media outlets like NDTV, CNN, BBC. Each card links to the original article for detailed reading.

How to Switch Back to Traditional Search

Click the “All” tab to view the standard Google results with organic links.

You can switch between AI Mode and traditional search anytime during your session.

Why This Matters

  • Saves time by summarizing complex topics instantly
  • Offers a trusted multi-source perspective
  • Helps users verify facts faster
  • Useful for journalists, students, professionals, and researchers

Important – Still in Beta

Google’s AI Mode for Search is still experimental. Some features may not be available for all queries, and Google may change the experience over time.
