Google Brings AI Writing, Smarter Sharing and More in September 2025 Android Update

Google has announced its latest batch of Android features, rolling out to devices globally this September. The update introduces AI-powered writing tools, improvements to media sharing, new ways to use emoji, and even a playful selfie-to-Android bot trick.

Revise Your Writing with AI in Gboard

The biggest upgrade comes to Gboard, Google’s keyboard app. Users can now access AI-powered writing assistance directly while typing:

  • Adjust the tone of text: formal, expressive, or concise.
  • Fix grammar and spelling automatically.
  • Get rewrite suggestions, helping users refine emails, messages, and posts without leaving the keyboard.

The feature is designed to keep writing support accessible and contextual, without needing to switch apps.

Remix Emoji with Emoji Kitchen

Google’s playful Emoji Kitchen is getting a refresh. The new update makes it easier to:

  • Browse remixed emoji stickers.
  • Favorite and save frequently used stickers.
  • Explore creative combinations to add more fun and personality in chats.

Share Audio with a Friend or a Group

A new audio-sharing feature takes advantage of LE Audio Bluetooth technology. With it, users can:

  • Pair two headphones to listen to the same audio source.
  • Create private audio broadcasts that others can join via QR codes.

This means music, podcasts, or videos can be enjoyed together without sharing earbuds.

Quicker and Smarter Media Sharing

Quick Share, Google’s cross-device file transfer system, is now more intuitive:

  • Redesigned interface with previews before sending.
  • Progress indicator to track transfers.
  • One-tap toggling between “send” and “receive” modes.

This makes sending photos and videos simpler, especially in group settings or when sharing multiple files.

Bonus: Androidify Returns

For fun, Google has brought back Androidify in a new form. By taking a selfie, users can instantly generate a personalized Android bot version of themselves – a nostalgic callback to the early Android days.

Why It Matters

This feature drop reflects Google’s dual focus:

  • AI at the core: by embedding writing assistance directly in Gboard, Google makes AI productivity tools everyday and accessible.
  • Connected experiences: from shared audio to easier file transfers, the update pushes Android towards smoother, more social interactions.
  • Playful identity: with Androidify, Google reminds users that Android is not only functional, but fun.

Availability

The new features will roll out gradually starting September 2025 across Android devices, with some requiring the latest system updates and Google Play Services.
