As of June 2025, YouTube has begun rolling out automatic dubbing to all eligible channels, expanding access to non-English audiences like never before.
This is not just a feature. It’s a distribution revolution, especially for India’s regional creators.
What Is YouTube Auto Dubbing?
YouTube Auto Dubbing uses AI to automatically generate translated audio tracks in supported languages. So if you upload a video in Telugu, your viewers in other regions could hear the same video in Hindi, Bengali, or English with synced lip movements and voice matching (thanks to Aloud and Gemini tech).
It’s like having your own multilingual voice-over team on autopilot.
When Was It Announced?
YouTube’s dubbing initiative was first teased back in mid-2023, with limited pilots using Google’s Aloud (AI dubbing tool). Initially rolled out to select creators like MrBeast and a few Spanish and Hindi channels, the broader rollout was promised for 2024.
Now, in June 2025, YouTube is enabling it by default for a much larger set of creators, including regional and mid-sized channels.
How Does It Work?
What YouTube Does:
- When you upload a new video, YouTube auto-generates audio tracks in different languages
- These are added as separate audio tracks, not as new videos
- Users can switch languages by clicking the settings icon (like Netflix language options)
- Over time, YouTube may even dub old videos on your channel
- Status of dubbed versions can be tracked in YouTube Studio

Who Gets It?
If you’re reading this and have a YouTube channel, chances are you’re already eligible or will be in the coming weeks. YouTube is turning this on by default for many channels.
You’ll see an email or in-studio notification that reads something like:
“We’ll soon enable automatic dubbing on your channel. No action is needed.”
How to Manage It?
To Turn Off Auto Dubbing (for your whole channel):
- Go to YouTube Studio
- Click Settings > Upload defaults > Advanced settings
- Scroll to Automatic dubbing
- Toggle off
To Disable Auto Dubbing for a Specific Video:
When uploading a new video:
- Go to Video details > Advanced settings
- Uncheck “Enable automatic dubbing”
What Languages Are Supported?
As of June 2025, YouTube supports dubbing into:
- English
- Hindi
- Spanish
- Portuguese
- Indonesian
- Bengali
- Tamil
- Telugu
- French (More are expected to roll out soon.)
